Purpose of the position

Reporting to the Manager, Revenue and Cost Accounting, we are seeking an experienced and detailed-oriented Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and a proven ability to problem-solve and enhance financial processes. This role focuses on ensuring accuracy of financial records, compliance with accounting policies, and support and provide recommendations for provision and process improvements relating to inventory freight, tariff, Warranty, and other organizational processes as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Compliance & process improvements:

  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies and standards through regular reviews and updates
  • Guide business and operational teams for proper accounting compliance in daily operations
  • Prepare for external audits, address inquiries, and ensure proper documentation for focused areas
  • Identify and propose process efficiency improvements for inventory freight, tariffs, and warranties, aligning to organizational goals
  • Key player in process improvement projects and system upgrade testing. Development of test scripts, ensuring full testing is completed and accounting is correct

2. Warranty:

  • Review and record RMA and warranty provisions, revenue/expense accruals, and re-class entries
  • Prepare monthly warranty reports and review expenses with the Warranty Team
  • Calculate quarterly provision for all warranty liabilities to be reviewed and approved by Executive team 
  • Assist in calculation of warranty cost for units sold
  • Compile and maintain accounting documentation relating to warranties

3. Inventory Freight & Tariff:

  • Collaborate with logistics teams for accurate recording of freight and tariff accruals and re-class entries
  • Analyze and prepare monthly report for inventory freight and tariff-related expenses
  • Responsible for monthly inventory standard cost updates and maintenance of standard cost system
  • Provide freight and tariff trend reporting by product and region
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting of freight and tariff costs as part of the overall financial planning process

Education and work experience

  • CPA preferred with 3+ years post-designation experience, ideally in public accounting
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills; experiences with Microsoft Dynamics and PowerBi are an asset
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter requiring minimal supervision
